Tattoo Artist Removing Stencil

AFTERCARE

  • Keep the second skin on for 24 hours (and up to 3 days). If you experience any extreme itching or redness around the edges of the bandage remove it and wash with warm water and soap.

  • Remove the second skin in the shower and wash the tattoo with unscented soap.

  • Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor 3 times per day to keep the tattoo protected and hydrated. Do not over apply (think chapstick thin layer).

  • A week after your tattoo appointment, switch from Aquaphor to unscented lotion. Apply as needed to keep the tattoo and skin hydrated. Again, do not over apply.

  • Do not scratch your tattoo. It will itch but be mindful that scratching it may cause your new tattoo to heal poorly.

*Avoid clothes that rub on the tattoo during the first two weeks.

*Scented soaps and lotions can cause skin irritation and cause the tattoo to heal poorly.

*Do not bathe, swim or expose your new tattoo to direct sunlight for the first two weeks of healing. If soaking your tattoo in water is unavoidable please do your best to cover it and clean it afterwards (remember, a tattoo is a wound and should be treated with care as the skin heals).
